The Chernobyl power station in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic is the victim of what is widely regarded as the worst nuclear plant accident in history. An explosion in one of the reactors causes a fallout which leads to mass evacuations and the resettling of 336,000 across Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. Estimates suggest that over 4,000 deaths may be directly attributable to the disaster.
