- Royal duties: As the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II, Charles is the heir to the British throne and is set to become King upon his mother's death. He is a Counsellor of State and carries out a number of official duties on behalf of the Queen. He holds a seat in the House of Lords (the upper house of the British Parliament) and founded the charitable Prince's Trust in 1976.
- Famous for: Charles is known for his interest in the built environment and organic farming, and formed his own upmarket food company Duchy Originals in 1990, the profits from which go to the Prince's Trust. He married Lady Diana Spencer in a lavish ceremony in 1981, before controversially divorcing her in 1996 after he was accused of having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, who became his second wife in 2005.
