An ongoing tornado outbreak across the south-central United States has so far claimed at least 35 lives across six states, with Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Kansas, Iowa and Oklahoma among those affected by the severe weather.

The violent start to the 2014 storm season has also destroyed homes and livelihoods, with 75 million Americans estimated to be under threat from the severe weather.
