Charting the relationship between Ng Boon Gay and Cecilia Sue

Former Central Narcotics Bureau chief Ng Boon Gay took the stand for the first time on the tenth day of the corruption trial and gave his version of their relationship albeit a very different one as given by key prosecution witness Cecilia Sue.

Ng told the court on Monday, when the 18-day trial resumed after two weeks, that he shared an intimate sexual relationship with the former IT executive. He claimed that the 36-year-old was “clearly a willing partner” and that “we were enjoying it together”.

“There would be no need to force her at all,” a local newspaper quoted Ng as saying. “Sometimes, she would be the one to initiate it.”

Referring to Sue’s earlier accusations that he had forced her to perform oral sex on him, the 46-year-old said, “I disagree with what she said and I don’t know why she said it – about these four occasions.”

The former top cop told the court that they had oral sex 20-30 times during their three-year extramarital affair from 2009 to end-2011, when they met about once a week. Intimate sessions, where they had engaged in “hugging”, “kissing”, “petting” and “oral sex”, at quiet spots after their dinner dates were a “routine”, he was quoted by local media as saying.

There was never a break-up or a break in their sexual relations as claimed by the prosecution, apart from the time when Sue was heavily pregnant in mid-2010, which made it “inconvenient” to meet.

They had intercourse once in mid-2009, Ng recounted.

He admitted to the affair when he took the stand after district judge Siva Shanmugam earlier ruled that he had a case to answer.

Prosecutors had alleged that Ng violated anti-corruption laws by demanding oral sex from Sue on four occasions in exchange for furthering the business interests of her then-employers Hitachi Data Systems and Oracle Corporation Singapore.

The former director of Criminal Investigation Department maintained in his testimony that he did not reveal confidential information about the agency’s budget to Sue.
