The idiot-proof guide to the Alex Au-AIM saga
The Prime Minister's call for investigation is the latest in a string of confusing statements and numbers about a town council and a computer management system -- we break it down and make it simple so you don't have to.
Dr Teo Ho Pin: AIM is fully owned by PAP
In a media statement on December 24, coordinating chairman of PAP Town Councils, Dr Teo Ho Pin confirmed that AIM is fully owned by the PAP. Dr Teo explained that a tender was called in 2010 to sell a jointly-developed computer software for maintenance.
Out of five parties who bought the tender forms, AIM was the only one to have submitted their bid. Dr Teo said that AIM "offered to buy the developed application software for $140,000". The company was tasked to charge each town council $785 per month to manage the system until October 31 2011.
Mr Alex Au raised two questions in his blogpost. Firstly, he questioned why Dr Teo did not say outright that AIM had gone ahead with the offer and actually paid the sum of money. Secondly, he questioned what the fees were after October 2011.
