Huang Na murder

On 10 October 2004, eight-year-old Huang Na disappeared from a food court at Pasir Panjang Wholesale Market where her mother worked, triggering a three-week nationwide search that even spread to Malaysia.

Police detained and questioned vegetable packer Took Leng How in relation to the girl's disappearance, and after escaping police custody and then turning himself in, he admitted to killing the girl.

Took, a Malaysian, led authorities to Telok Blangah Hill Park where the Chinese national's body was found in a box.

The prosecution alleged that Took lured Huang Na to a storeroom at the wholesale centre, sexually assaulted her before striking and strangling her to death.

After following a 14-day trial in July 2005, Took was found guilty and sentenced to death. He was hanged in November 2006.
