Bukit Panjang Park strangle case

A 25-year-old woman's badly decomposed body, clad only in underwear, was found in Bukit Panjang Park by a town council supervisor on December 29, 2009.

28-year-old Nigerian overstayer, Amanchukwu Chukwuma, reportedly provoked by Liu Shuhui (the deceased) at the time of murder, admitted to strangling his former lover after they got into an scuffle when they were making their way to the former's makeshift home in the park.

After Amanchukwu strangled Liu, he removed her clothes and burnt them at the scene.

Amanchukwu pleaded guilty to culpable homicide and was sentenced to 12 years' jail.
