A man in his 30s was arrested this morning following a stabbing incident in Jurong West Street 42.
Police say they received a call for assistance at Block 415 at about 8.40am.
Upon arriving, they found an injured woman in her 20s on the ground floor.
Our News Desk was at the scene to find out more.
The drama unfolded when loud screams broke the quiet of the morning.
One eyewitness, who only wants to be known as Mdm Teo, described what she saw from her 4th floor unit in the block.
"The screams were very sharp. After that, I saw the lady, she's awake, but stomach, hand, arms, shoulders, the blood is all around. The knife, is the type we use to cut fruits, it's a bit bent, still at the lady's side. About 10-20 minutes, the ambulance came."
Mdm Teo also noticed a man running away from the scene.
A resident from the next block, Mr M Nathan, was passing by at the time.
"I saw the lady, like fell down, on the floor, and then another man, Indian also, was crying beside her. Another guy, was like talking to others, maybe to ask for help."
The victim, a nursing student from Nanyang Poly, was on her way to school when the stabbing happened.
Member of Parliament for Jurong GRC, Ang Wei Neng, was at the scene to speak with family members, whom he said are in a state of shock.
Mr Ang told the media the Residents' Committee here is ready to offer emotional or financial help if needed.
And he assures residents the area remains peaceful and safe.
Mr Nathan, echos Mr Ang's sentiment.
"This is the first time that such a thing is happening here, usually it's quiet."
