Vietnam DPM promises Singapore PM full probe into riots at industrial park
In a meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Tokyo today - Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has coveyed his country's deep regret at the recent anti-China protests in Vietnam, and the damages caused to the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks.
DPM Dam reassured PM Lee Lee that Vietnam will conduct a full investigation and take the necessary actions against the perpetrators.
And Vietnam would ensure these incidents would not happen again.
PM Lee expressed Singpore's appreciation for Vietnam's assurance and its efforts to resolve the situation.
During their meeting on the sidelines of an international conference in Tokyo, the Vietnames Deputy PM also updated PM Lee on the developments in the South China Sea.
And Mr Lee reiterated Singapore's consistent position - Singapore takes no sides in the territorial disputes, which he says should be managed peacefully in accordance with international law.
PM Lee also counselled moderation and restraint on all sides.
