Video clip of accident goes viral

SINGAPORE: A video clip, apparently taken on a dashboard video camera and showing a lorry side—swiping a motorcycle on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), has gone viral.

It garnered some 6,800 shares in less than 48 hours since it was posted on Facebook on Saturday, 19 January.

A post at the webpage said the incident occurred on Friday afternoon.

The video clip, however, was time—stamped 21 September 2010, 9.22pm, though it showed the road in daylight.

Responding to queries from Channel NewsAsia, police said they received a call on 18 January 2013 at about 1.35pm requesting for assistance along PIE towards Changi Airport, at lamp post 926.

The location is understood to be between the Eng Neo Avenue and Stevens Road exits of the PIE.

Police established upon their arrival that an accident involving a lorry and a motorcycle had occurred at the said location.

The rider was sent conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Sources said the rider is believed to have sustained injuries to the arms and legs.

Police investigations are underway.
