Victim breaks morning routine after kidnap episode
One day after she was freed by her kidnappers, 79-year-old Ng Lai Poh has apparently ditched her morning routine of going to the market and having breakfast near her home.
Mdm Ng was kidnapped along Hougang Ave 8 on Wednesday while she was returning home from marketing and breakfast - a routine she stuck to for the past 10 years.
Hougang residents and those who work there described her as an outspoken person.
A vegetable stall worker there also told MediaCorp that Mdm Ng would patronise shops in the area and would sometimes bring fruits for them.
Those who have met her say she usually eats breakfast alone or with a friend.
MediaCorp understands Mdm Ng has not left home this morning.
Madam Ng's son, Sheng Siong boss Lim Hock Chee, handed out drinks to reporters waiting outside his home.
Speaking in Mandarin, Mr Lim said his mother slept well the night before and has had breakfast at home.
He said his mother will be spending her time watching TV today.
He added that in future, he would try to get his wife or maid to accompany Madam Ng around.
He also said his mother is in good health.
The two men suspected of kidnapping her were arrested hours after a police report on the case was lodged.
