Participants at an inter-faith conference say it may be useful to have more structured programmes in schools, to promote better inter-religious understanding among students here.
Senior Minister of State for Law and Education Indranee Rajah said such dialogues are key to helping Singaporeans co-exist harmoniously, as well as diffuse misconceptions and tensions.

Ms Indranee was speaking at the Conference on Interfaith Realities and Possibilities today.

Topics discussed at the dialogue range from the relationship between religion and the state, to suggestions on how stronger community bonds can be built between Singaporeans of different religions.

There was a reminder not to take Singapore's racial and religious harmony for granted, especially for the younger audience.

Ms Indranee said she's heartened to see Singaporeans showing a willingness to foster greater understanding between different faiths.
