Unquestinable practices by gold jewellery retailers

Consumer association, CASE, says it has uncovered questionable practices adopted by gold jewellery retailers. 

These practices include failing to weigh the gold jewellery or removing the tag when weighing. 

Other questionable practices include not providing receipts with a detailed breakdown of the cost or using weighing scales which were inapprpriate. 

These practices were uncovered when CASE randomly picked 20 retailers from across Singapore for its gold fineness test last November. 

While the questionable practices were found, all 20 gold jewellery pieces picked passed the fineness requirement for hallmakrking standards.
