SINGAPORE: Singaporean long—distance runner Lim Nghee Huat has set a new record at the ultramarathon in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 59—year—old, who is an editor with MediaCorp, completed the run over two days and nights.

He clocked in 44 hours 57 minutes, beating his own time of 46 hours 15 minutes at last year’s race.

This is the third time Mr Lim has taken part in the international race with runners from 13 countries.

Mr Lim competed in the race to raise funds for eldercare facilities in Singapore’s Mountbatten estate.

Mr Lim said, "I am very glad that I completed the 217—kilometre ultramarathon and I would like to thank all my friends and colleagues for their support.
