SINGAPORE: Two Pakistani nationals have been charged with murder in connection with the legless body found in a suitcase at Syed Alwi Road on Wednesday night.
Rasheed Muhammad, 43 and Ramzan Rizwan, 25 were brought to the State Courts in a police van on Saturday morning.
Rasheed Muhammad, dressed in a white, long-sleeve shirt, and Ramzan Rizwan, who wore a red shirt, were charged with one count of murder each.
They are accused of causing the death of 59-year-old Muhammad Noor in a room at Rowell Road.
This allegedly took place between June 10 around midnight and June 11 at about 6pm.
A bloodied suitcase, which contained the upper body of Muhammad Noor, was found at Syed Alwi Road on Wednesday.
The next day (June 12), the police found a pair of legs in the vicinity of Jalan Kubor, off Victoria Street.
The two men were arrested on Thursday (June 12) at about 3pm near Rowell Road.
If found guilty of murder, the men face the death penalty.
The two men appeared solemn as the charges were read out to them in court.
They have been remanded for further investigations and their case will be heard next on June 20. - CNA/al
