Transport Ministry gets highest number of Budget cuts from MPs

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Members of Parliament have filed 455 cuts for the forthcoming debate in the Committee of Supply for the various ministries and organs of state during the ongoing Budget debate.

The highest number of 50 topics has been filed with the Transport Ministry, followed by the Ministry of Manpower and the new Culture Community and Youth Ministry (MCCY), which have close to 40 topics filed under their headings.

Among the topics raised for the Transport Ministry include public transport capacity, train reliability and connectivity.

Productivity for better wages and jobs will be raised under the Manpower Ministry’s debate while issues concerning arts, heritage and volunteerism will be touched upon under MCCY.

Concerns of the small and medium enterprises will be discussed under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Parliament will kick off the debates in the Committee of Supply on Thursday with the Prime Minister’s office where several issues concerning population, immigration and integration policies will be raised.
