SINGAPORE: Over the last three years, an average of 1,750 summons were issued each year for road hogging.

Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Mr Masagos Zulkifli shared this figure in Parliament.

He clarified that while road hogging is an offence, tailgating is not.

He said that traffic police will be developing a comprehensive plan to improve road safety.

Mr Masagos said: "We recognise that to have better road safety, it is a sum of both education enforcement and of course better road infrastructure. We will be rolling out more traffic police on the road to enforce and make sure that the message goes through that errant behaviour that jeopardises safety of all other road users will not be tolerated. We will do more and the reason is because we believe right now it is not sufficient."
