SINGAPORE: Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris—Punggol Group Representation Constituency (GRC) and Chairman for Pasir Ris—Punggol Town Council, Mr Zainal Sapari, said he wants to ensure a smooth handover of the Punggol East ward to the Workers’ Party.
The Punggol East Single Member Constituency (SMC) is currently managed by the Pasir Ris—Punggol Town Council.
Mr Zainal told Channel NewsAsia on the phone that his team will be meeting the Workers’ Party within the week to agree on a timeline to handover the town council management.
He said the usual practice would be to move contracts under the town council to the next party.
That party would then have to decide if it wants to continue with the existing contracts or take on new ones.
For example, the Workers’ Party can decide to stay with the same cleaning contractor for the town council or get a different one.
On Wednesday, Mr Zainal will have a town council meeting where he will share with town councillors what arrangements have been made.
