SINGAPORE: Will you stand with me?
This was revealed on Thursday as the theme for this year’s Total Defence campaign.
It is inspired by Singaporeans who have stood together in the past to overcome challenges.
The campaign aims to encourage the public to step forward to do something for the community.
And one way is through the Total Defence Challenge.
It will take place across the island on February 15 on Total Defence Day and culminate in an event at Republic Polytechnic.
Each team includes a mix of Singapore Armed Forces members, students, an active—ager, and a person with disabilities.
Several initiatives will also be launched leading to Total Defence Day.
For instance, getting Singaporeans to take part in an online human chain through photo submissions.
Another initiative aims to get Singaporeans to share stories of how someone has stood together with them to achieve a remarkable feat or overcome a challenge. They can do so by submitting photos, videos and messages through the "My Friend In Deed" contest on the ConnexionSG’s
page.
Kelvin Koh, director at Nexus, said: "We know that when Singaporeans come together, we can overcome challenges. So this year’s Total Defence campaign, the theme of "Will You Stand With Me", is an apt reminder to all Singaporeans of this element of unity among Singaporeans.
"We also hope through the campaign this year, to inspire Singaporeans and people who want to make Singapore their home to come together to keep Singapore safe as well as secure."
