SINGAPORE: Police have arrested three 15—year—olds for suspected involvement in a series of island—wide loanshark harassment cases targeting HDB flats and innocent car owners.
Acting on information received, officers from Criminal Investigation Department arrested the three youths on 19 December, 2012.
Through follow—up investigations, the trio was found to be involved in seven cases of loanshark harassment targeting HDB flats and two cases of loansharks harassment targeting innocent car owners.
The three suspects will be charged in court on Thursday for the loanshark harassments.
Under the Moneylenders Act, anyone found guilty of committing loanshark harassment shall be punished with a jail term not exceeding five years and a fine of not less than S$5,000.
They shall also be liable to be punished with not less than three strokes of the cane.
