Three more charged with rioting
Three more Indian nationals were charged in court today for rioting at Little India on Sunday evening.
Rajendran Ranjan, 22, Moorthy Kabildev, 24 and Sathiyamoorthy Siv Sivaraman, 36, made their first appearance in court Wednesday afternoon.
They are accused of committing mischief against the private bus involved in the traffic accident that sparked the riot.
The suspects allegedly threw a dustbin at the front window of the bus, used a wooden stick to smash the windscreen and threw hardened concrete, bottles, and a metal drain cover at the windscreen and windows of the bus.
Deputy public prosecutor Norman Yew read out their charges in court and requested for them to be remanded in police custody for another week for police investigations.
The three men appeared expressionless as a court interpreter read out their charges to them in Tamil.
A representative from the Law Society informed the accused the possibility for them to seek help through the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme - similar to what was brought up to the first batch of 24 men who were charged yesterday.
The case will be mentioned in court again on 18 Dec.
