At the Workers' Party third and final rally for the Punggol East by election,
Secretary-General Low Thia Kiang defended his party against the PAP's statement that they have not taken a stand on major issues.
He said the PAP should stop misleading voters in this regard.
Mr Low said the WP's stand on policy-making and alternative solutions are clear and have been articulated in parliament and stated in the party's manifesto.
Earlier, Aljunied GRC MP and the Workers' Party Chairman Sylvia Lim called on voters to allow more MPs from the non-elite class to speak for the people.
Highlighting the party's candidate Lee Li Lian's background, Ms Lim said Singaporeans need MPs who can empathize with their struggles.
And addressing the rally, WP candidate Ms Lee said if elected, her immediate task would be to ensure the smooth running of the town council.
As for Singapore's immigration policies,
Ms Lee said the WP is not against immigrants who can contribute to Singapore, but the pace of immigration in the last ten years has surprised many.
Making her point that the pace of immigration must not exceed the pace of development of infrastructure in Singapore, Ms Lee said this has led to growing discontent among Singaporeans.
Turning to the concerns of single parents and stay-at-home parents, Ms Lee said these groups have been left out of some of the government's relief schemes.
