Tan Tock Seng Hospital has officially opened its new Centre of Geriatric Medicine.
The clinic workflow has been streamlined so that doctors and nurses in the same care team are clustered together, and patients don't need to be moved from one place to another.
Key services such as the Geriatric Gymnasium and Pharmacy are located within the clinic for patients' convenience, and the sick bay has been designed and equipped in such a way that patients don't have to be moved for consultation.
There is also a sensory garden for relaxation, and a mock-up of an elder- friendly home so that patient and caregiver will have the skills and knowledge to manage when they return home.
Speaking at the ceremony, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong also announced that the next phase of public consultations on Successful Ageing will be launched from next month.
So far, Mr Gan says they've heard from around 200 seniors in more than 13 sessions.
And he hopes to invite more Singaporeans for the next series of sessions, starting on the 14th of August.
