Swimming: SSA appoints Turner as new technical director
SINGAPORE: Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) has appointed Ian Turner as their new technical director.
The Briton is also the coach of Singapore’s Olympic swimmer Tao Li.
Turner’s role of technical director is newly—created and he will oversee coaching as well.
His appointment spells the end of head coach Ang Peng Siong’s four—year stint with SSA.
But it was an amicable handover.
Ang expressed his hopes of seeing more Olympic swimmers and for the sport to move forward.
As for Turner, he aims to improve local swimming and coaching levels to reach world—class standards.
"We have to see more athletes in world rankings, more athletes getting Asian medals and obviously Southeast Asian Games in 2015 will be our target meet," said Mr Turner.
