Suspect nabbed within 3 hours of hit—and—run accident

SINGAPORE : A driver suspected of knocking down a 24—year—old man was arrested within three hours of the fatal hit—and—run accident.

The incident took place in the Sungei Kadut industrial area at about 2am on Friday.

It is believed the 28—year—old driver was delivering food to a workers’ dormitory in that area when he knocked the man down.

Traffic Police nabbed the delivery van driver at Hougang, at about 5am on Friday.

Police said they are currently investigating the case.

A person found guilty of hit—and—run faces up to one year’s jail or a fine of up to S$3,000.

If he is a repeat offender, he faces up to two years’ jail or a S$5,000 fine.
