SINGAPORE: The Supreme Court will have a Chief Executive of Judiciary Administration & Operations from February 1.

Ms Juthika Ramanathan will take up the new position and will serve for an initial period of three years. She will oversee the administration and operations of the Supreme Court, and will report to the Chief Justice.

Her responsibilities include those of the "Accounting Officer" and the Permanent Secretary—equivalent for the Supreme Court.

As Chief Executive, she will work closely with the Registrar of the Supreme Court, who will establish a new docketing system to manage cases and continue to oversee the work of the Legal Service officers.

Ms Ramanathan is a former solicitor in commercial practice.

She joined the Registry of Companies and Business in 1986 as an Assistant Registrar of Companies and Businesses. In 1998, she was appointed the Registrar of Companies and Businesses.

She oversaw the merger of the Registry of Companies and Businesses and Public Accountants Board, as well as the establishment of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority as a statutory board in 2004.
