SINGAPORE: A supportive relationship between a couple will help keep ties with their children tight—knit.

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong made the point at the Dads for Life conference on Saturday.

Building on the success of its English conferences, organisers held it in Mandarin for the first time to reach out to more parents.

It aims to encourage fathers to be a more effective parent by providing tools and tips.

One tip Mr Gan shared was that fathers have to play an active role in guiding their children and sharing life’s moments with them.

He also touched on how wives should be supportive of their husbands to create a warm family, which is beneficial to their children.

The conference attracted some 1,400 parents.
