SINGAPORE: A metal sheeting of an overhead bridge took quite a beating from the heavy storm early on Wednesday morning.
The metal sheet exterior of the overhead bridge linking Peace Centre and Wilkie Edge came loose. This prompted police to close Sophia Road at around noon.
The road was re-opened to traffic in the evening at about 5pm.
Meanwhile, the National Parks Board said due to the intense Sumatra squall on Wednesday morning, there were 15 cases of fallen trees and 25 cases of snapped branches.
The locations included Geylang, Tampines, Whampoa and Holland. NParks said the obstructions were generally cleared within an hour upon notification. - CNA/ac
