Start the work day with exercise near workplace with HPB's new Sunrise in the City programme
Working adults can start their work day by losing some calories - at workout sessions near their workplaces.
They can take part in a new programme, Sunrise in the City (SITC), of the Health Promotion Board (HPB).
It offers workout sessions for activities such as yoga, brisk walking and jogging.
SITC will start on 4 March at six locations - Marina Bay Financial Centre, UOB Plaza, Collyer Quay, Chevron House, Clarke Quay and Millenia Walk.
All the sessions are open to the public, free of charge.
HPB aims to increase the number of locations to 10 and reach out to 20,000 participants by March 2014.
SITC was developed following a recent survey by HPB and its partners to understand the exercise needs at workplaces and gather feedback on morning workout initiatives.
Many respondents said they would support the programme.
Chief Executive Officer of HPB, Ang Hak Seng, said the programme, which is the first of its kind in Singapore, offers working adults a new platform to be active and to cut sedentary behaviour.
It helps them achieve the recommended 150 minutes a week of moderate-intensity workout activities.
SITC will complement HPB's existing evening initiatives, such as iRun1 and Fitness@Work.
