Starhub may bid for EPL
Starhub plans to negotiate for the rights to broadcast the English Premier League (EPL) if the price is right.
This is according to Starhub's chief executive Neil Montefiore, and it comes as the company looks for ways to maintain its competitie edge.
The TODAY newspaper reported that if a deal is signed, Starhub may charge customers $25 to $35 a month to watch matches.
Singtel announced last month it had secured the rights to broadcast EPL matches for another 3 seasons starting from next year but on a non-exclusive basis.
This has left the door open for Starhub to try to negotiate its own deal.
Mr Montefiore noted that the EPL is still in an exclusive negotiating period with Singtel, and it is unclear when that period might come to an end.
