S'pore's manufacturing output rose 12.1% in March
Singapore's manufacturing output grew by a larger than expected 12.1 per cent in March, boosted by the biomedical manufacturing cluster.
The Economic Development Board, EDB, says the biomedical manufacturing cluster's output expanded 16.4 per cent.
This was attributed to the almost 20 per cent growth in the pharmaceuticals segment, due to a higher value-added mix of active pharmaceutical ingredients being produced, and higher output of biologics products.
EDB says output of the electronics cluster grew 8.7 per cent, mainly due to contributions by the other electronic modules & components and semiconductors segments.
Compared to February, EDB says manufacturing output increased 6.1 per cent in March.
