S'pore's manufacturing output grew 6.2% in December
Singapore's manufacturing output grew 6.2 per cent in December last year.
The Economic Development Board says excluding biomedical manufacturing, output would have increased 12.1 per cent.
Output of the biomedical manufacturing cluster contracted 14.9 per cent, mainly due to the 21.2 per cent fall in the pharmaceuticals segment, due to a different mix of active pharmaceutical ingredients produced.
In 2013, output of the biomedical manufacturing cluster was unchanged from a year ago.
The electronics cluster's output expanded 22.2 per cent in December.
For 2013 as a whole output of the cluster rose 3.5 per cent.
Output of the transport engineering, chemicals, and general manufacturing clusters rose but output of the precision engineering cluster fell 1.2 per cent in December.
