MALAYSIA: The Singapore and Malaysia technical teams looking into the high-speed rail link between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore will meet in October. This was revealed by Syed Hamid Albar, the Chairman of Malaysia's Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
He said negotiations may take up to 12 months before the tender process begins.
Unveiling more details about the service, he said trains will leave every 15 minutes, with one 90-minute express service every hour. The other services with several stops along the way will take about two hours.
Tickets will be priced below that of budget airlines.
Construction is expected to begin by 2015, before the scheduled take-off in 2020. - CNA/ac
