S'pore & UK researchers team up to transform marine & offshore R&D
A*STAR's Institute of High Performance Computing and the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute have opened a joint laboratory in Maritime and Offshore Engineering R&D in Singapore.
The lab aims to develop innovative solutions aimed at solving technical issues faced by the maritime, energy and offshore sectors.
It hopes to address two major challenges faced by the maritime and offshore sector.
First, the more complex engineering requirements of deep-water offshore oil and gas drilling.
And second, the requirement for vessels to be more environmentally-friendly apart from their increasing size, variety and complexity.
The Joint Lab will undertake projects in collaboration with other partners in the maritime and offshore R&D community, including researchers from National University of Singapore.
