SINGAPORE: The Speak Good English Movement has partnered the British Council to develop a self—assessment quiz that is available on the movement’s

website

.

The aim is to raise awareness on the importance of speaking good English.

By answering just 30 questions, participants will have a better idea of how proficient they are in English.

This was announced at the launch of the Speak Good English Movement held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

This year’s campaign wants to get Singaporeans to "Make Good English Stick" — a reminder that the skill of using the language effectively and successfully comes with constant practice.

In line with the theme, sticky notes will be used to remind Singaporeans to speak well.

Minister for Information, Communication and the Arts, Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, said: "Speaking good English does not equate to using big words. While it is important to have a good vocabulary, speaking well is about the ability to communicate our thoughts, ideas and feelings well enough so that others can understand us."
