SMRT to add 570 buses to its fleet
SMRT will add 570 buses to its fleet as part of an initiative to increase capacity on longer routes and bring greater comfort to commuters.
This is the largest fleet renewal and growth initiative by SMRT to date.
They'll be introduced progressively till end 2016.
SMRT says a first batch of about 30 buses will be delivered to its bus depots in June.
They'll undergo further tests before joining SMRT's existing fleet of over 1,200 buses to serve commuters from July.
218 of the new buses are being funded under the Land Transport Authority's Bus Service Enhancement Programme.
