SingTel fines for Mio TV service disruptions

SingTel has been fined a total of $380,000 for the breakdown of its MIO Voice and TV services last year.

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore found that SingTel had not fulfilled its obligation of its mio Voice service.

That is, to provide resilient fixed line telephone services under the authority's Service Resiliency Code.

It fined SingTel $300,000.

There were breakdowns in the service on the 28th and 29th of October as well as the 4th of November last year.

The Media Development Authority also fined SingNet, a Singtel unit, $80,000 for a similar disruption to its Mio TV service.

Some users in parts of Tampines, Changi and Pasir Ris were affected by the October disruption.

The breakdown last November affected users in parts of Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah and Woodlands.
