Singapore's first green factory officially opens
Singapore's first green factory has been officially opened.
Called Greenhub, the 20-million-dollar factory is located close to Boon Lay.
It's an environmentally friendly building, from construction to business operations.
For example, it's the first industrial building in Singapore to quantify its carbon footprint during the construction and operation phases.
The building houses Greenpac's operations, a company that redesigns packaging for companies in an environmentally friendly, and sustainable manner.
Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam who officiated the opening said Greenpac has transformed itself from a one-person start-up to a thriving multi-million dollar company.
And it has done so in a way where it shows other companies how it can get commercial advantage through environmental value, with innovation at the core.
