Singaporeans' median monthly household income increased 7.5%
The median monthly household income of Singaporeans has increased from $7,040 in 2011 to $7,570 in 2012.
This is a jump of 7.5%
Taking into consideration inflation, this was an increase of 2.7%
On average, Singaporean households received $1,340 worth of transfers per member from various government schemes.
Those living in one or two-room HDB flats received the most transfers.
They received an average of $6,140 per household member.
Those living in 3-room HDB flats received $1,530 per household member on average.
The Gini coefficient, a measure of income inequality, increased slightly from 0.473 in 2011 to 0.478 in 2012.
After adjusting for government transfers and taxes, the Gini coefficient in 2012 was lower at 0.459.
