Singaporean accused of indecent acts goes on trial in Canberra

A Singapore student accused of indecent acts towards a fellow cadet at the Australian Defence Force Academy earlier this year will go on trial in Canberra, Australia.

Twenty-one-year-old Benedict Ang Yong Chuean had pleaded not guilty in the territory's Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Australian media says Ang is facing two allegations, including touching the woman's breast after he entered an officer cadet's room at the military school on the 6th of May.

Ang is a member of Singapore's defence force.

His lawyer says Ang is currently studying at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.

The Singaporean will have his first day in the high court later this month.
