RIYADH: Singapore and Saudi Arabia plan to cooperate in areas such as combating transnational crime and terrorism, under a Memorandum of Intent between Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior.
It was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Interior of Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh on December 3.
Mr Teo also called on Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
They reaffirmed the warm and friendly relations between Singapore and Saudi Arabia, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and people—to—people exchanges.
Mr Teo also invited the Crown Prince, who’s also Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, to visit Singapore.
During his meeting with Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Commander of the Saudi Arabian National Guard, Mr Teo conveyed the wishes of President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for the speedy recovery of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who underwent surgery recently.
On December 4, Mr Teo met members of the Singaporean community in Riyadh.
