Singapore 'naturally concerned' about Malaysia's reclamation works in the Straits of Johor.
Singapore has raised concern over Malaysia's Forest City development project which involves reclamation works in the Straits of Johor.
The Foreign Ministry has asked for Malaysia to provide more information so that it can undertake a study as soon as possible, on the impacts of these reclamation works on Singapore and the Straits.
The MFA added that it is "naturally concerned" about any possible transboundary impact on Singapore.
Malaysia has agreed to provide more information.
An MFA spokesperson said that there are international obligations for both countries to work closely on such matters.
The MFA was responding to queries, following reports in the Malaysian media that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had written to his Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak, concerning the land reclamation work near the Second Link.
Malaysian reports say the project is said to involve several connected islands with a total land size of some 2,000 hectares.
The reports add that Mr Lee's letter follows earlier diplomatic notes sent by Singapore to Malaysia's Foreign Ministry.
