Singapore National Games: Tampines’ Lee outruns Olympian Gary Yeo

SINGAPORE: Sunday was the second day of the track and field event in the Singapore National Games.

Held at the Bishan Stadium, Olympian Gary Yeo, representing Pasir—Ris Punggol, started as favourite in the men’s 200—metre Open Category.

But as the race came down the straight, it was Lee Cheng Wei, running for Tampines, who edged ahead.

Lee eventually hit the tape first, ahead of Yeo.

Elfi Mustapa, also of Pasir—Ris Punggol, finished third.

Ang Mo Kio meanwhile ruled the men’s 800—metre Open Category.

Soh Hua Qun hit the tape first, ahead of Fang Jian Yong of the West Coast.

Andrew Ngo, also of Ang Mo Kio, took third.

Ang Mo Kio tops the latest medal tally, with 9 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Sembawang comes in second, with 5 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Bishan is at third place, with 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
