SINGAPORE: Singapore and Malaysia should work towards more collaboration on the music front.

That’s the view of Singapore’s Minister for Information, Communications and The Arts Dr Yaacob Ibrahim and his Malaysian counterpart Dr Rais Yatim.

The ministers said this after gracing Muzika Ekstravaganza, an annual gala variety show featuring artistes from both sides of the Causeway.

The two—hour show on Friday night saw performances by more than 20 artistes from both countries.

It also marked the seventh year of the joint effort between MediaCorp’s Suria and RTM (Radio Television Malaysia).

Dr Yaacob said: "Going forward, as mentioned by Dato Seri (Dr Rais Yatim), we need to re—examine the formula. One element that we are considering is to make it more multi—cultural, encompassing other communities so that we can actually build the bridges across not just the Malay community, but across both countries, across all communities."
