SINGAPORE: Singapore and Laos mark 40 years of diplomatic relations this year and both sides are set to boost bilateral and economic ties.
This was highlighted during the two-day visit to Singapore by Laotian Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong.
On Friday morning, Prime Minister Thongsing met President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana.
Both countries also inked a tax deal (Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income) to boost trade and business linkages.
Prime Minister Thongsing also visited the National Orchid Garden where an orchid hybrid Dendrobium Thongsing Thammavong was named in his honour.
