Singapore Customs seized $1.6m in contraband cigarettes, second largest haul this year
Singapore Customs have made their second largest seizure of contraband ciggarettes this year.
They seized more than 17,500 cartons of the illicit cigarretes from two warehouses along Soon lee Street in two operations over the last week.
The cigarettes are worth more than $1.6 million.
The total duty and GST evaded exceeded 1.3 million.
Five men, four of them foreigners, were arrested in these operations.
Court proceedings against the five are ongoing.
