Singapore, Australia reaffirm excellent bilateral cooperation

GURGAON, India: Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli and Australia’s Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Richard Marles have reaffirmed the excellent cooperation between the two countries.

Meeting in Gurgaon, India, on Friday, they exchanged views on the delayed import of livestock from Australia for the annual Korban in Singapore this year.

Mr Masagos also informed Mr Marles that the slaughter of the livestock this year was done in conformity with Australia’s new regulatory framework, and vets were present at the Korban stations.

Separately, Mr Masagos held bilateral talks with Kenya’s Foreign Minister Samson Ongeri and Madagascar’s Foreign Minister Pierrot Rajaonarivelo.

With each of the two ministers, Mr Masagos exchanged views on broadening bilateral cooperation.

The various bilateral talks were held on the sidelines of the 12th Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR—ARC) Council of Ministers Meeting.

Mr Masagos congratulated India’s Minister of External Affairs Salman Khurshid for the successful chairmanship of the meeting, and for his recent appointment to the ministerial position.
