Singapore & Cambodia to strengthen energy cooperation, starting with study visit

Singapore and Cambodia have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in energy.

As a first step, a delegation led by a Secretary of State of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy of Cambodia will conduct a study visit to Singapore from 21 to 24 October.

The study visit, which will be organised by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore, will facilitate the mutual exchange of views on energy issues.

The delegation will also attend the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2012.

These plans were discussed by Cambodia's Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, Mr Suy Sem, and Singapore's Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Mr S Iswaran, when they met on the sidelines of the 30th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.

They have tasked their officials to work on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on specific initiatives to enhance bilateral energy relations.

The MoU will be signed in October 2012 during SIEW.

Cambodia's Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy and Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry said this in a joint statement.
