Singapore—owned ship saved after being hijacked off Nigeria

SINGAPORE: The Singapore—owned oil tanker which was hijacked by pirates off the coast of Nigeria has been rescued.

The Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore said the 23 crew members on board the vessel are safe.

The MPA spokesman added that the vessel’s crew, together with Nigerian security forces, will conduct a vessel security check. The vessel will proceed on its journey after obtaining clearance from the authority.

Reports citing the International Maritime Bureau said the tanker was seized by pirates on Tuesday evening.
