Shocking video of toddler dashing across the road goes viral
SINGAPORE: A toddler was nearly run over by two vehicles after he dashed across the road on May 2.
The incident, which occurred along Bedok North Road at 8.51pm, was captured by a vehicle’s in-car camera and uploaded on the Facebook page streetdirectory.com on Tuesday.
The one-minute clip, which has gone viral with more than 5,000 shares, shows a little boy dashing across a pedestrian crossing as a car comes to a halt about a metre from him. The driver then sounds the horn to alert the taxi driver in the next lane, who manages to stop inches from the boy.
A woman, believed to be the toddler’s mother, is seen anxiously running after him shortly after.
Netizens expressed outrage and shock after seeing the clip, while others praised the driver for his alertness.
“Oh my goodness... that was really a close one, thanks to the driver for [his] alertness. Children sometimes just simply dash so quickly, you can never let them [be] alone especially by the road side. Please carry them,” said Norfitri Shah on Facebook.
“The driver is very alert. And hopefully, the parents [will] be more responsible [when] taking care of their own child’s safety,” wrote Jackson Nah.
