Sentosa welcomes 150 millionth guest

SINGAPORE: Sentosa Island crowned its 150 millionth guest as part of celebrations for its 40th anniversary.

14—year—old Nur Athirah Kamal walked away with 150 prizes valued at nearly S$10,000 — all treats that she can enjoy with her family on the island.

And it seems third time is the charm for Nur Athirah, who said she has only visited the island three times.

"I’m feeling very excited right now because I’m the 150 millionth visitor here so it wasn’t really what I expected right now so I’m really in shock and very happy right now."

Some of the treats include hotel stays, attraction tickets and even a one—year complimentary island admission.

The hunt for its 150 millionth visitor comes as Sentosa celebrates 40 years of serving up fun in the sun for Singaporeans and tourists alike.

CEO of Sentosa Development Corporation said there’s been a steady growth of visitors throughout the years.

"If you go back to the early 70s, we were getting about 600,000 to 700,000 people a year and last year we had 19 million people come. That’s a 30—fold increase over the 40 years so it’s built up very strongly."
